This seems to be a popular spot in the Little Italy district. We got seated right away on a Saturday night even though the restaurant looked relatively busy. We had the Angel Hair Pasta with marinara sauce and a side of meatballs; and bruschetta and the gnocchi in gorgonzola and mushroom sauce. The bruschetta was crispy and the tomatoes were fresh. Both the meatballs and the Angel Hair Pasta were so-so. But the gnocchi was absolutely fantastic! The sauce was super yummy and the gnocchi themselves were like little stuffed pillows. I would come back just for that next time!

Came here while on vacation in SF. We wanted Italian for dinner but didn't have reservations anywhere. Looked online to find a few places and the looked around when we arrived and chose Sodini's. Super cute place. Very old school. It was casual and had a nice vibe. The friendly host (maybe the owner?) seated us right away (6:30pm on a Sunday), and soon after it got quite busy with every table full including most of the ones outside. The tables are covered in paper and there's a jar of crayons, so it was perfect for our 8 year old to play tic tac toe and draw. There is no kids menu. Our waitress was nice and efficient, but she had a lot of tables so we had to wait a bit to get and pay the check at the end. She did make an effort to check in on us. Water was always refilled promptly. Bread came out fast (it was so so). We placed our order quickly. Our side salads came out fast too--the caesar dressing was tasty but the salad was overdressed. Food took a little while, but I think they were just waiting for us to finish our salads. We ordered chicken parm, linguine with clams, and penne with pesto. Everything was tasty. I loved being able to see the kitchen from our table. Prices were average. Very large portions. If we lived in the area I could see this being a regular place for us.

Sodini's Trattatoria is so delicious! It was wonderful to watch chef make his pizza crust. The salami and pepperoni pizza transported me to Italy. My gnocchi with meat sauce was the balance of creamy and tangy. The gnocchi was stuffed with ricotta and spinach and comes with a bit of garlic bread. I soaked up every drop!!!

Great freshly cooked Italian food that looks as good as it tastes! My favorite was the clams pizza but everything else was not extraordinarily good or different which is the point. However, I feel their menu offers way more than necessary for their personal brand. I saw a pepperoni pizza, garlic steak fries along with traditional Italian dishes. It also showed a creamy sauce pasta as an option and alongside it has a carbonara which is presented as "creamy sauce pasta with pancetta". This is not how I'd expect an authentic carbonara to be described in the menu. It's no big deal but the menu definitely makes this restaurant feel less authentic than it is. The atmosphere is beautiful with old school Italian American figures and artworks on the walls and a vintage classic vibe. Divy and casual style. The server spoke very little and wasn't able to help very much with the ordering. There was some confusion with one of the dishes which was taken back after serving and served to some other table, which was odd. But other than that, it was a great time enjoying Italian food in a casual setting.

Found this spot thru multiple positive yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. It's off the beaten path of the main congestion filled touristy streets. The venue is clearly a locals spot it's homey and authentic. We shared a Caesar salad I had the Gorgonzola gnocchi and hubs had the linguine with meatballs. I loved the gnocchi perfectly light and pillowy. No wait time, we were seated right away. The staff continued to check-in without being overbearing and the owner thanked us for coming.

The gnocchi was really good and cooked so well - so soft and squishy. The pizza was pretty good but definitely a thicker pizza. The spot itself was such a vibe and had great character. The staff was decent and we felt taken care of!

A cozy, old school italian restaurant and bar in the north beach area. Truly some of the best gnocchi i've ever had! 10/10 and would always recommend the caesar salad.

Located on a very busy street. We were a party of 6 and ordered a variety of dishes. I had a gnocchi, others had lamb and steak. The portions were very generous and it is a task to complete one on your own. Lamb was possibly the pick of the dishes. Very few restaurants source it locally and often opt for cheaper imported options. They source it locally and the taste is a testament. Gnocchi was also very tasty.

Considering how North Beach (and San Francisco for that matter) offer an infinite amount of Italian Trattoria's in a very small radius, trying to pinpoint exactly which place you wish to dine at on a Saturday evening can be a very daunting task. Those that know me already know that I ain't into those fancy chic places where you need to wear a $3000 suit, a $500 of Italian loafers, and a Rolex watch. I am way more into the old school mom-and-pop places. And after looking at dozens of Italian eateries, I finally settled on "Sodini's Green Valley Restaurant". Located a block from Columbus Ave. in the heart of North Beach/Telegraph Hill, Sodini's lies directly on Green St. and adjacent to Grant Ave. This particular area is loaded with tourists, locals, and is a very popular destination. I do not advise attempting to park your car here which is why it's best to arrive by foot, Muni bus, or Uber/Lyft. I took the 45 Union Muni bus (from my hotel), made the quick 6 minute walk, and arrived during the late afternoon of Saturday 4/1/2023 at around 5:40pm. Since this place does not take reservations and considering it was dinner on a Saturday, I was a little concerned about wait times. However upon our arrival, the owner Mark was the one that greeted and seated us. And best of all, there was NO wait! Nice guy that made sure that the business was flowing smoothly. The building itself has that rustic old school look and feel to it while being placed directly below a few apartments. They do offer limited outside dining but all the magic here is on the inside. Here you will find a full service bar and an endless amount of pictures focusing on past entertainers, local talent, and some of the history behind Sodini's. You can spot photographs of the great Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, and other well-known people past and present. As far as the decor, don't expect anything fancy about this place; here you will find distressed leather barstools and tables that look as if they're several decades old. Since I already knew what I wanted prior to coming here, my choice was simple. This was none other than their "Linguini w/Clams" in a creamy white sauce complete with a side of garlic bread. I opted with their white house wine which is a perfect pairing that goes with the pasta and clams. My +1 ended up going with the "Linguini w/Meat Balls" in rich marinara sauce. Service was very attentive as our waiter made sure we were taken care of in a timely manner. There was a different waiter that made sure our waters were continuously getting refilled. One interesting thing about the the staff/employees here is that they were all sporting t-shirts that resembled the early-2000's HBO show, "The Sopranos". However, this said "Sodini's" with a red gun pointed upwards. I must say that this place is lively but has that gritty old look to it, just what I enjoy. Our meals arrive rather quickly. I was quite impressed that there was about 10 clams on my dish complete with a spork to dig the clam out of the shell. Everything tasted above average while the texture of the pasta hit the spot. However, the side of bread was so small to a point where I was done in a couple of bites. All in all, "Sodini's Restaurant" is a very good restaurant worth checking out. Just the nostalgia alone is worth a visit if you plan on checking out a piece of history in San Francisco. Is it the best Italian I've ever been to? No it is not. But it is very good and worth the money spent. With that said and done, I am giving Sodini's an above average 4-star Yelp review. Grazie! and Mangia!
